Ellie Graham

After 22 years at Greater Columbus Learning Center (GCLC), our current director, Dr. Ellie Graham is retiring.  As of June 30th, 2010, Dr. Graham will end her long tenure with GCLC and begin a new personal adventure called retirement.  Dr. Graham is admired and respected  by her colleagues and peers for her passion for adult education.  To Graham, GCLC is not just a place to improve educational skils, it is an opportunity for adults to improve their future.

Dr. Graham has worked at GCLC since it first opened its doors in 1988.  Graham's first duties were as the Curriculum coordinator and later moved to Director.  Graham has guided GCLC as it moved from a small room in the Education department of Mississippi University for Women to several rooms and offices in Parkinson Hall at MUW and finally to its own building currently located at 612 Military Road. During Dr. Graham's tenure, GCLC has been visited by governors, congressmen and business leaders, all of whom praised GCLC and its leadership for the innovative approaches they use in meeting the educational needs of adults.  She has been a tireless supporter for adult education in her community, state and nationally and has helped lobby local, state and federal leaders for money to help keep needed programs like GCLC open and free.

July 1st, 2010, Graham will hand over the reigns to a new director and will continue to assist GCLC during this transitional period.  If you wish to let Dr. Graham know how much you appreciate her efforts, please email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Major Enrollment Changes

E-mail Print PDF

Starting October 5th 2009, Greater Columbus Learning Center will switch from an "open entry open exit" style of enrollment to a session (or term) based enrollment system.  The new enrollment and class structure is expected to cultivate a more structured and consistent learning environment.  Sessions will last 10 - 12 weeks and clients who have not met their educational goals by the end of the session will be allowed to "rollover" to the next session without having to repeat the enrollment process.  Also, the attendance policy will change to reflect the changes with the enrollment process,  Students will be required to attend at least 60 hours of class time and will not be allowed to miss more than 5 days of class.  All aspects of this new process are subject to change so feel free to call our office with any questions.
