How much does the GED test cost?
$40.00 for the Full Battery (5 subtests) or $12.00 per subtest if you are retesting.
What are the requirements for taking the GED Test?
Not enrolled in public or private school, 18 years of age, withdrawn from school at least three months, or after peer class has graduated, court ordered or emancipated youth. You must attend the GED Orientation prior to the testing.
What score must I make to pass?
A minimum of 410 on each subtest and an overall average of 450.
What documentation do I need?
- A government issued photo (ex. Drivers license, passport, etc.)
- Social Security Card
- Parents signature on application if under 18 years
- Transcript from last testing (if retesting)
How many times can I take the GED Test?
Three (3) times in a calendar year
How long is the GED Test?
Approximately 7 1/2 hours
When can I retest?
When your test transcript has been received from the scoring center.
How long does it take to receive my scores?
Usually 3-4 weeks.
Can you take the GED Test in other languages?
Yes, the GED Test is available in Spanish, French, and English.
What special accommodations are available to the handicapped?
The GED Test is available in large print format; audio, and Braille. With authorization and approval from the State Office and GED Testing Service, extended time, calculator, scribe, and oral reading are available with the L-15 Form.
How do I get a copy of my transcript?
Original transcripts are mailed directly to you from the scoring center. A copy may be obtained from the State Office by filling out a Request Form from this office and mailing $5.00 check (certified, cashiers) or money order, payable to SBCJC.
How do I know if I passed the GED Test?
Your GED Diploma will be mailed to you from the State Office.
I took the GED Test some time ago. Why did I not receive my scores?
There could be an error in the mailing address bubbled in on the answer sheet forms, or if you moved, the Postal Service may not have had a forwarding address.
